Baseball Families,

It’s time for both returning and new players to register for our upcoming spring season! Returning families are welcome to re-register now—and we’d love your help spreading the word, so please feel free to share the registration link with friends and neighbors who might be interested in joining the league this spring. New families will sign up for our new player waitlist while we finalize field permits and team capacity for the spring.

Last season was our biggest and most successful year yet: nearly 200 players across 14 teams and four age levels. We had more players and volunteer coaches than ever before, played more games, and continued to build an amazing community around the league. We also partnered with the Yankees on multiple events, including an on-field parade—an unforgettable experience for our players and families. We’re excited to build on that momentum this spring.

Please read everything below carefully before you register. When you do register, please take your time and double-check your selections, since these details directly affect team formation and player placement.

Commitment expectations

Our league works best when families can commit to regular attendance at games and practices. Baseball is a team sport, and players need to show up for their teammates—when someone is missing often, it affects the whole team’s ability to practice, learn, and play games. We completely understand that occasional conflicts happen, but please register only if your player can participate consistently throughout the season. Because our roster spots are limited, registering without being able to regularly attend can take a spot away from another player who is ready to fully participate.

Age and skill levels

Starting this season, our league will use a new level-naming system that clearly shows the progression as players grow: Tee-Ball → Farm → Minors → Majors. Tee-Ball is our introductory level (ages 4–5), followed by Farm League (ages 6–7, coach-pitch), then Minor League (ages 8–9, coach-pitch with more advanced skills and gameplay), and finally Major League (ages 10–12, kid-pitch). These names are simply meant to make it easy for families and players to understand that each division is the next step up, with increased independence, skill development, and game rules as kids move through the program.

Between Levels? (Mid-Season Birthdays)

If your player is between levels (with a birthday during the season), you will see two level options during registration. In general, choose the older level if your player is ready for a bigger challenge, and choose the younger level if they would benefit from more development time. If you’re unsure which option to choose (for example, a younger player ready to move up or an older player who may benefit from staying put), please leave a note during registration so we can review it when placing teams. Either way, we’ll do our best to place players where they’ll be successful and safe, while keeping teams balanced.

Season dates (tentative)

We are currently planning for Opening Day to be Saturday, March 28, and Closing Day to be Saturday, June 20.

Schedule (same general plan as last season)

We’re planning to keep (mostly) the same schedule we’ve followed the past couple of seasons, with small adjustments based on permits and coach availability. Below are our planned game times and locations. Weeknight practice days are still TBD based on permits and coach availability.

Tee-Ball (ages 4–5)

  • Saturdays, 9:00–10:00 AM at Newtown Barge Park

  • We may add an additional time slot depending on demand and permits

Farm League (ages 6–7)

  • Saturday games, 9:00–10:30 AM at McCarren Park

  • One weeknight practice each week (day TBD)

Minor League (ages 8–9)

  • Saturday games, 10:30 AM–12:00 PM at McCarren Park

  • One weeknight practice each week (day TBD)

  • A couple of weeknight games spread out during the season

Major League (ages 10–12)

  • Saturday games, 9:00 AM–12:00 PM at Roberto Clemente Ballfield or McCarren Park

  • One weeknight practice each week at Roberto Clemente Ballfield or Newtown Barge Park (day TBD)

  • Thursday night game at McCarren Park every other week

  • Optional Sunday morning practice, 9:00 AM–12:00 PM for all Major League players at Roberto Clemente Ballfield

Volunteer coaches needed

We can’t run the season without volunteer coaches. If you’re able to help, please consider signing up as a Head Coach, Co-Head Coach, or Assistant Coach when you register your player—no coaching experience is required, just enthusiasm and a willingness to show up for the kids. Coaching support directly affects how many teams we can form and how many players we can accommodate at every level. If coaching isn’t the right fit, families can also volunteer to help with field prep as an alternative. You’ll have the option to sign up during registration.

Price update + financial aid

There will be a registration price increase this season to help cover rising costs as our league has expanded—more games means more umpire fees, more players means higher insurance costs, and we also need additional equipment and uniforms. The registration fee is $220 for all levels except Tee-Ball, which is $180. Every dollar goes back into the league to support the season. Financial aid is available—if the cost is a barrier, please reach out and we’ll make sure your player can participate.

How to register + what’s included

Register here (returning and new players): https://go.teamsnap.com/forms/512545

Your registration includes a team t-shirt, hat, pants, baseballs, and shared practice equipment. Players must bring their own baseball glove and their own helmet (required for safety). Cleats are optional.

Questions?

Please reach out anytime at north.brooklyn.baseball@gmail.com. Our league is 100% volunteer-run, so responses may not be immediate, but we’ll do our best to get back to you as quickly as we can in between work, family, and field time.

Thank you for being part of the league—we’re excited for another great spring season. More details (including exact weeknight practice days) will follow once teams and coaches are finalized.
